Goodbye To Rose Towers

 The University of Alabama's Rose Towers is being demolished to   clear the way for a new residence hall being built nearby.
   

The building will be imploded July 4 at approximately 8 a.m.

    

Trails and roads in the vicinity will be closed for about two hours beginning at 6:30 a.m., and the Black Warrior River will be closed to boat traffic around the time of the demolition.

    

Spectators can watch the implosion from a public viewing area in the Riverside East Parking lot. The demolition is expected to last only a couple of seconds, but the air will be dusty for 10 to 15 minutes afterward.

    

Rose Towers was built in 1969. It is being replaced by the second phase of the Presidential Village Residential Community, expected to open in August 2014.
